Farmer Membership
What Does It Mean to Be a Farmer Member?
At West Sound Floral Exchange (WSFE), our mission is to bridge the gap between flower farmers and wholesale buyers—florists, designers, and other customers who value fresh, local blooms. WSFE offers farmers another sales channel while giving customers easy access to a wide variety of high-quality, locally grown flowers.
Our model is built around farmer autonomy: each member decides what to offer for sale and sets their own prices. In return, we ask for a high standard of quality, clear communication, and a spirit of collaboration. We see our fellow growers as teammates, not competitors. Because we each grow different crops, in different ways and at different times, there’s room for everyone. Our goal isn’t to gatekeep local flowers—it’s to make them more available and more successful in the marketplace.
Here’s how membership works, week to week:
Sales Platform: We use licensed software called Local Food Marketplace (LFM). This allows all of our farms to contribute inventory to a single, easy-to-use online storefront for our customers.
Inventory Upload: Each week, member farmers upload their projected availability between Friday morning and Saturday night, so the shop is ready for customers by Sunday.
Customer Shopping Window: The online shop opens to buyers at 8:00 a.m. on Sunday and stays open until 11:59 p.m. on Monday.
Pricing: Farmers set their own prices. A small logistics fee is added on top for the customer—WSFE does not take a cut of your listed price.
Order Visibility: As customers place orders, you can view them in real time via the portal. After the order window closes, you’ll also receive an emailed summary of everything sold.
Harvest & Prep: On Tuesdays, farmers harvest and prepare their orders. Flowers are conditioned overnight so they’re fresh and ready for delivery.
Pickup & Delivery: On Wednesday mornings, the WSFE flower bus picks up orders from farms and delivers them to customers the same day. We only pick up what’s been pre-ordered—there’s no consignment or guessing game. This reduces waste and keeps you in control of your product.
Payments: Once deliveries are complete and customers have confirmed their orders, credit cards are charged and receipts are emailed. Farmers are paid electronically for their sales.
This streamlined system helps us all grow stronger businesses while keeping more local flowers in the hands of people who love them. We’d love to have you as part of the team!
Interested in Joining the Collective?
We’re always excited to connect with fellow flower farmers who share our passion for growing and our commitment to quality. While we are limited in how many farms we can support due to our software system, we aim to make space for as many growers as possible. We’re happy to teach you the ropes when it comes to our sales process and technology—but we do ask that members come in as capable, reliable growers with a solid handle on their crops.
This year, we’re introducing a limited number of probationary memberships for newer growers. These trial spots are dependent on how many experienced members step up to serve as mentors. If you’re just getting started, don’t be discouraged—we’d love to stay in touch and possibly work together down the road once you’ve gained a bit more growing experience.
Membership is $100 annually. Once we receive your application, we’ll review it and follow up to answer any questions or gather additional info. If you’d like to chat before applying, feel free to email us at getflowers@westsoundfloral.com—we’re happy to hear from you! Applications will open for the 2026 season in December of 2025. Stay tuned!
